A referendum on the issue of the accession of Croatia to the European Union will be held in Croatia on 22 January 2012.[1][2]

On 23 December 2011 the Croatian Parliament decided that the referendum will be held on 22 January 2012.
Croatia has been negotiating with the EU since October 2005 and finished the talks on 30 June 2011.[3] Treaty of Accession 2011 was signed on 9 December 2011.[4] A referendum on the issue must be held, according to the Croatian Constitution.[5]
